Pen to Paper Writers Series

The Franklin County Public Libraries hosts the next installment of their popular writers’ series, “Pen to Paper” on Monday, April 15 at 2 pm at the Carrabelle Branch Library. This session will feature authors Dale Cox and Thomas Becknell. The Carrabelle Branch Library is located at 311 St. James Avenue (Hwy 98), Carrabelle, FL.
During the series, authors will discuss the works they have written and those in progress, followed by a question and answer session. These friendly and informal sessions provide an opportunity to meet these authors and question their experiences. They are open to anyone interested in learning about the writers or the writing process. There is no charge to attend.
Dale Cox, a Southern writer and historian, is the author of more than one dozen books on Southern history and culture including one about the famous Franklin County site entitled, “The Fort at Prospect Bluff: History of the Negro Fort on the Apalachicola River” as well as “The Battle of Natural Bridge, Florida: The Confederate Defense of Tallahassee” about the battle near the St. Marks River. His acclaimed Civil War study – “The Battle of Marianna, Florida” – was named best in its category by Civil War Books & Authors. Cox has won numerous awards and has been named to the prestigious Bonnie Blue Society for Southern writers.
Thomas Becknell grew up on the plains and prairies of Wyoming and Nebraska. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa and taught literary history and writing for 35 years in Minnesota. His most recent book is Enchantments of the Mississippi: A Contemplative Journey of Time and Place (2022). Thomas lives in Apalachicola with his wife, PJ Erwin, and their two dogs.
The last program in the Pen to Paper series will be Monday, May 13 at 2:00 pm and will feature writers, Anthony Lee Watkins and David Adlerstein.
